I am a big fan of Mary Crawford's writing. I have read a number of her stories, with their intertwined characters and I always enjoy them a lot. Her characters are always a little damaged, emotionally, or physically, but in Tough she has gone a little further with the extent of the pain and suffering the characters have endured before they actually find true love and happiness. This book is grittier than many of its predecessors, yet I feel it benefits from that.
