Overview

The second installment in the legendary Matt Helm thrillers Matt Helm, code name Eric, has been recently reactivated as an operative for a secret American government organization after fifteen years as a sedentary photographer and family man in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In his first assignment after returning to the service, he is sent to Sweden to eliminate Caselius, a long-time enemy agent. In order to do so, he must leave a trail of bodies in his wake. Originally released in the era of the James Bond novels, the Matt Helm novels were considered grittier and more realistic than Bond, garnering them critical praise and an ardent audience.

Author Information

Donald Hamilton (1916-2006) was the creator of Matt Helm, star of twenty-seven novels that have sold more than twenty million copies worldwide. He was born in Uppsala, Sweden, attended the University of Chicago, and served in the US Naval Reserve. He published thirty-eight novels altogether. The first Matt Helm novel, Death of a Citizen, was originally published in 1960, at the height of the Cold War. Claire Bloom gained international fame in 1951 with her screen debut in Charles Chaplin's motion picture Limelight. Among her many memorable films are Richard III, The Haunting, Look Back in Anger, and A Doll's House. Stefan Rudnicki is a Grammy-winning audiobook producer and a multi-award-winning narrator, named one of AudioFile's Golden Voices.
