The nativity was displayed every year within our home. I would stand there trying to figure it all out. Jesus was born in a barn, a stable? He is the Son of God. Doesn't he deserve better than that? There were animals in there with him. Oh gosh, what did it smell like? There were shepherds in there with Mary, and Joseph, and the baby, Jesus. Did they even know these people? Then there were the three wise men with their camels who came from where? I didn't think Mary and Joseph knew them either. So many questions filled my head every Christmas season. We continue to celebrate the birth of Jesus, two thousand years later? Why? What made him special above everyone else who has ever been born to this world? Aren't we all God's children? What on earth does our Christmas celebration today have to do with that nativity scene? Weeks of preparation are consumed with decorating, cookie baking, gift exchanges, Christmas carols, and more!
