Grant Stockbridge was the house name used for the authors who wrote The Avenger series of pulp novels published by Street & Smith during the 1930s and early 1940s. The character of Richard Benson-known as The Avenger-was created to follow in the tradition of popular pulp heroes such as Doc Savage and The Shadow. Written primarily by Paul Ernst and other contributors, the series became a notable part of the golden age of American pulp adventure fiction.
