I was pleasantly surprised by The Sundance Reader. I took on some last minute courses as an adjunct at a community college, was hired only a weejk or two before courses started, and was easily able to put together a strong syllabus with only a few days to review the text book. I had previously taught Freshman English I at two other universities, and was used to being disappointed by the standard textbooks for such courses, so The Sundance Reader truly came as a pleasant surprise.
