OverviewThe dream of a life in paradise is finally becoming a reality. After many years of planning, Anke and Dave Forrester fold their tents in Germany and, with their two small children, set off for Carriacou, a small island in the south-eastern Caribbean. Anke is ready to exchange her city life for a new home in the tropics - with all the changes that will entail. Water for drinking, cooking and showering will come from their own cistern. Yogurt will have to be made and bread baked at home. Tropical fruits, sweet and ripe, will be waiting to be picked from the trees in the garden. What more could you want for a wonderful new life? The couple have also researched ways to make an income, purchasing an old freighter to transport goods between Dave's home and other islands so as to make a living. Slowly, however, cracks in this idyll begin to form and Anke realizes that she is actually a captive in her beautiful house on the hill. Her one true friend manages to open her eyes, shaking Anke out of her deep sleep. When she begins to make changes, she starts receiving threats and the whole island appears to be conspiring against her. Is this all just a nightmare or is it a ghastly scheme that has been in the planning for a long time? Actually, that would not say much about the true Andrea. As the oldest of three children, I always felt very much misunderstood and not allowed to reach my true potential. I felt different and struggled to cope with the so-called norm . At an early age, my escape was painting but at twenty I had the urge to escape the narrow confines of Southern Germany so I booked a one-way flight to Malaga, Spain to learn another language and broaden my horizons. I soon discovered that language was another way of expressing myself. I became a certified translator and decided to travel to many countries in Latin America - all this at a time when my friends in Germany were beginning to start their families. For many years, I worked in international public relations in Munich, however always dreaming of a life on the other side of the globe. This opportunity came knocking on my door when I was in my mid-thirties. I grabbed it, not knowing that my life would be changed forever. Since 2004, I have made my home on Majorca, Spain where I have dedicated myself to translating articles, brochures and books. However, these activities have not been my most significant achievements. What really matters for me is the love I share with a few people - especially my husband and two daughters. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
