OverviewContinuing the series ""Contemporary Architecture in Turin"", this book reconstructs the complex topography of the places, buildings, actors and technical and artistic cultures that interwove throughout the 20th century in Turin. The places resulting from 20th-century policies that tried to answer different housing needs are widely illustrated and recognisable in the space of the contemporary city. Apartments, buildings, open spaces, gardens and collective implements have created residential districts and complexes that have all gone to make up a 'public city'. The book analyses the role of these spaces in the construction and upgrading of the city. A return to the notion of districts, suggested by their role of 'design laboratory' in the innovative period of urban renovation that got underway in Turin back in the 1990s.
