3 November 1988. 4 AM. Gunmen pour onto the beaches of Malé. Two hundred hired mercenaries - armed, trained, and ruthless - have come to overthrow the government of the Maldives. The President is hiding in his own capital. His security forces are outnumbered three to one. The coup should be over before dawn. Then someone picked up a phone and called India.
