After earning her M.D. from Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine, she completed her ophthalmology residency at the same institution. She later pursued postdoctoral research at NYU Langone Medical Center, contributing to several high-impact projects on teleophthalmology, glaucoma progression, and AI in ophthalmic diagnostics. Dr. Elgin is a Fellow of both the European Board of Ophthalmology and the International Council of Ophthalmology. Her research interests span from surgical outcomes in trabeculectomy to the ethical and systemic implications of AI-driven ophthalmic care.
