Kit and Tekker are two friends with the power to let their minds push past everyday realities. Though warned by the local recluse that they are taking great risks, they continue these secret ventures, and as they approach the source of the mystery, they do indeed endanger lives - particularly Kit's unbelieving older brother. Though a slightly sentimental conclusion follows the highly dramatic rescue scene, this is a clever, sustained suspense story. Gordon includes enough of the friends' daily lives to ground them in reality; he allows lightly suggestive parallels (two vexing older siblings) and quiet ironies to flicker through; and he writes forcefully of both landscapes (of a boulder: The heat seemed to sing around it ). Impressive and compelling. (Kirkus Reviews) Author InformationTab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
