Overview

Wendi Nixon graduated from Regent University with a Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies, and is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in private practice in North Carolina. She has worked with children and families for approximately 30 years and has been a certified therapeutic riding instructor since 2013, offering equine-assisted therapy to children in her community. Her heart for children everywhere is to have hope for their future in the midst of a conflicted world, and that a loving God has plans for their good. Wendi and her husband enjoy their five acre farm with four horses and two ponies, and having afternoon tea in their colonial style tearoom. Wendi's adult daughter Joie, who resides in New York, created the beautiful illustrations for this story, and has received awards and critical acclaim for her quality artwork. Dawn is a young girl fascinated with horses and a dream of friendship with her own horse. Her small house in the city does not allow for her dream to come true, but she meets a very special lion who gives her creative and even miraculous strategies to have hope for her dream. Come climb the golden stairway with Dawn to discover how she learns to find the joy of discovering her dream come true, and the one who helps her.
