Overview

The Calmanifesto of Happiness 'One of the kindest people I have ever met - a beautiful dancer and a beautiful person' Kevin Clifton 'Be good, be kind, be more like Susan Calman' Kirstie Allsopp 'Be kind to yourself - read this book, keep it on your bedside table or on your Kindle - even Kindle has the word kind in it' Sandi Toksvig 'Full of wisdom and humour, with the soft underbelly of the profound' Fi Glover 'It's a warm, funny and delightful book that is sure to cheer even the grumpiest curmudgeon in your life' Woman and Home Susan Calman's enthusiasm at being on STRICTLY COME DANCING was an inspiration to all of us. CHEER UP LOVE, Susan's first book, had a clear aim: to help people understand depression. SUNNY SIDE UP has a similarly clear path: to persuade people to be kinder to each other and spread more joy. These are extremely difficult and confusing times - people are cross and shouty. It's exhausting! But more than anything, people like Susan, people who don't hate other people, are apologising for the way that they think. Susan wants to make sure that they don't. That it's ok to love people, that kindness is something wonderful and brilliant and to bring on the joy. So the mission is simple. To get the nation to join her in not being negative. To bring back joy, kindness and community, to find that joy in the little things in life and defeat the hate and fear. Susan is a one-woman army of hope and joy, and she's ready to lead the nation in a different direction.

Reviews

If you think Susan Calman is sweet and funny you'd be wrong . . . she's hysterical and divine and one of the most life enhancing people you'll ever come across. If you can have ups and downs and come out like Susan then there's hope, lots of it. Be good, be kind, be more like Susan Calman Not only is Susan ridiculously funny but she is also one of the kindest people I have ever met ... a beautiful dancer and a beautiful person - Kevin Clifton Be kind to yourself - read this book Glasgow-born comic Calman is a dead-cert-one-to-watch; she's got an infectious bubbly manner but a caustic edge toom and both can yield comedy gold - Guardian Feisty Scot Calman is one of the best female comics to ever come out of the land of bagpipes and haggis. She'll make you chuckle your pants off - Time Out Calman fizzed manic energy, alternating between confessional tales and playing with facts she teased out of the audience - Edinburgh Evening News Heartbreaking and heart-warming: unmissable - Metro Susan Calman never fails to make me hoot with laughter

An essential read * Sunday Post * She started writing it before Strictly and there's a fistful of sequins in there . . . This sheer joy at dancing finds its way into Sunny Side Up * Scotsman * Full of wisdom and humour, with the soft underbelly of the profound -- Fi Glover, BBC Radio 4 presenter Punctuated by her own life experiences and inspiring stories from other people, she shows how much pleasure can be found in the little things in life. Even without sequins, you can still sparkle! It's a warm, funny and delightful book that is sure to cheer even the grumpiest curmudgeon in your life. * Woman and Home * Be kind to yourself - read this book, keep it on your bedside table or on your Kindle - even Kindle has the word kind in it * Sandi Toksvig * If you think Susan Calman is sweet and funny you'd be wrong . . . she's hysterical and divine and one of the most life enhancing people you'll ever come across. If you can have ups and downs and come out like Susan then there's hope, lots of it. Be good, be kind, be more like Susan Calman. * Kirstie Allsopp * Not only is Susan ridiculously funny but she is also one of the kindest people I have ever met. The time we spent dancing together on Strictly was so much more than dance lessons. We laughed, cried and built a wonderful friendship and I learned as much from her as she did from me. I have always believed that the best dancers are the ones who have an ability to make people feel something and to make people smile. Susan does this on and off the dance floor which in my opinion makes her both a beautiful dancer and a beautiful person. * Kevin Clifton *
