OverviewThere will be a further development of subject science. This involves a reform of curricula and training regulations, implementation in school administration, the involvement of interest groups, textbook publishers and teacher training. The reaction in Germany in some occupation zones is of interest to historical political education. In the British occupation zone, local history was less desirable and the traditional principle from near to far was pushed back. In the American zone, a single subject was called into question. The ""social studies"" made such a development appear understandable. Regardless of this, the development led to a climax in regional geography research and a central focus in school lessons. School geography led to problem areas such as the rigidity of the scheme, the overemphasis on collecting facts and the implementation of general knowledge. The justification of a sequence of continents and states was problematic. The changes after the Second World War highlighted the need for didactic innovations.
