Annie grew up with all boys including her best friend Cole. Annie fell in love with Cole as a child. He goes on to be a football star while relegating Annie to best buddy status. Annie follows her dream to become a wildland firefighter. Annie survives the horrific Azalea Fire while Cole goes on to win the Superbowl with Annie's help correcting a flaw of his.Cole ignores her during his MVP acceptance speech. Annie walks away from the man she loves. Years later, Annie is now a Fire Chief. She has many years of experience fighting wildland fires all over the U.S.A. She is called to the Bench Fire where she finds multiple towns being destroyed, people trapped and it is her responsibility to take charge of the disaster. While saving people, she comes across children trapped in a burning house.After rescuing them she learns there are two more children, a small boy and baby trapped in the house next door that is fully involved. She manages to rescue the children but it's a near thing. Cole, now a veteran football player, watches the fire with the rest of the world live on TV. He realizes the firefighter risking their life going into the burning buildings to save the children is his childhood best friend Annie. He realizes he loves her. Now he must figure a way to win over this heroic firefighter heart.
