OverviewRose is a well-mannered young hyena who loves to share. Then one day she meets a bully - scary lion who refuses to share, even though he has a pile of leftovers! His selfishness pushes Rosie away. In time, Lion gets sick from the rotten leftovers that no other animal wants to eat. Worried for his health (and annoyed by his stink), his neighbors run begging Rosie for help. She leads the hyenas and they all clean up Lion's mess. Next time Rosie meets Lion has learned all the benefits of sharing. He treats her respectfully and is excited to share his meal with her. The author's note provides information about the role of the hyenas in their ecosystem and lists ways for kids to protect the environment and recycle. This is a story about standing you ground and living by the values of you tribe.
