Changes in the law have been considerable and the aim of this textbook (the 2nd volume of the 4th edition) is to provide students and practitioners of the law with a statement of the chief principles and rules of the law of obligations in Scotland. It deals with obligations created by unilateral promises, by bilateral agreements or contracts (including some specific contracts), and with obligations imposed by law to make restitution, to make reparation for harm done, including examination of various kinds of delicts, to comply with statutory duties and with decrees of court. The subject matter is covered systematically so that different branches of Scottish private law can be related to each other and to the whole as a rational entity.
