Overview

Poetic Justice is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization with the purpose of offering a positive, constructive form of self-expression to those affected by incarceration. We accomplish this purpose through offering writing classes that humanize and empower those at-risk of incarceration, currently incarcerated, or previously incarcerated. Poetic Justice is comprised of an all volunteer, all female staff who seek to help develop the voices of women who have found their voices lost, forgotten, or unheard. All proceeds directly fund our program. Oklahoma has the highest incarceration rate of women in the world. For every 100,000 women, 132 in Oklahoma will be incarcerated with the national average at only 68. ""Poetic Justice Volume 4"" is a collection of poems from incarcerated women throughout the state of Oklahoma that detail their life experiences and emotional fortitude.

Reviews

This class has had a profound impact on my life. I now have a life of kindness and hope. I can promote peace in here through dialogue. Being in this class has helped me to dig deep and uncover some of the hurt that has been buried within. Being able to share it in here has helped me so much. Poetic Justice helped me heal, which helped me to forgive. I believe Poetic Justice gives us hope. Hope in ourselves, hope in our state, hope for change, hope for our society, hope for women to overcome where we've been and what we've been told we are.
