A humorous pirate story which manages to convey some subtle messages about gender and role reversal...lively colourful comic-style illustrations enhance the text of a picture book that is full of energy and should appeal to all pirate adventure loving young readers. * Books for Keeps * Offers children a story to love. Pirates, adventure and a baby! * Armadillo * A lovely story, full of unexpected twists and turns. * Parents in Touch * Six buccaneers and a baby. When the salty sea dogs of the Ramshackle spot a makeshift raft sporting an audible and pungent infant, they are aghast. All the more so when they realize that they must find effective ways of feeding and changing the squalling tyke. Yet with a little ingenuity and a goat to give milk, the scalawags are soon enamored of the baby they dub Isla. * Kirkus Reviews * This book not only manages to bring a different take on the norm, it is also a great deal of fun. * EYE * A funny and light hearted read and helps to challenge some stereoptypes that exist around pirates and children - a lovely fun read. * Let them be Small * A super little pirate book for younger readers, with fun and energetic writing from Mary and child-friendly art from Ros.
