Performance of the Propyne (C₃H₄) Vapor Compression Cycle: Issue of A Booklet Series on The Thermodynamics of Heat Pump Working Fluids

Overview

Performance of the Propyne (C₃H₄) Vapor Compression Cycle (Methyl acetylene, Allylyne, CH₃-C≡CH) Issue of A Booklet Series on The Thermodynamics of Heat Pump Working Fluids International System of Units (SI) Note: The lowest evaporating temperature available for this specific fluid is zero Celsius. This booklet series documents the performance, as predicted by classical thermodynamics, of the vapor compression heat pump cycle. Each issue addresses a different working fluid, while keeping formatting and nomenclature uniform across different booklets. This facilitates working simultaneously with multiple fluids, as may be the case when cascading two or more independent systems. The booklets are intended to perform as a set of handy tools, helpful in diagnosing and solving practical problems. Productive when ranking competing refrigerant alternatives. Essential aid to the performance evaluation, experimental data reduction and analysis of instrumented working systems and prototypes. Each volume contains at least twenty-five, fluid specific, look-up tables of thermodynamic data, cycle performance parameters, and transport properties. Attention is given to the subcritical region, where saturation pressure is varied from close to the critical point down to about 10-50 kPa. Tables present, as function of both condensing and evaporating temperatures: Heating and cooling capacities, compression work, heating and cooling coefficients of performance, quality, and expanded fluid temperature (useful for zeotropic mixtures), among others. Vapor and liquid transport properties (specific heat, density, thermal conductivity, and viscosity). Corrections for subcooling and superheat. The series is not limited to the performance of contemporary refrigerants. Phased-out legacy fluids and unusual working fluids are also covered. Enthusiasts of the field may be interested in accessing and comparing the predicted performance of contemporary, phased-out and unusual fluids over wide ranges of evaporating and condensing temperatures. Unusual fluids can have impressive performance when compared to commercially available ones. Additional fluids will be added to the series over time. The series is intended for HVAC&R professionals, researchers, students and enthusiasts of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pumps. The reader is expected to have undergraduate level training on thermodynamics. Suggestion: Hardcopies may be handy, please consider paperback options ! Available NOW on Amazon.com Books.
