Author Information

Michael Weinstein is an experienced pilot, origami enthusiast, and Ph.D. holder in molecular genetics from the University of California, San Diego. As an assistant professor at Ohio State University and a lifelong paper-folding expert, he authored On Folded Wings: Paper Airplanes for All Ages (Cypress House), a recognized collection of intricate paper aircraft designs. Michael is a native of Toledo, Ohio, and he has been passionate about origami since childhood and wrote his first paper airplane book in high school, He earned a Ph.D. and became a professor of molecular genetics at Ohio State University. He's also an experienced pilot who owns and flies a 1962 Mooney M20c. He specializes in creating complex, modular origami airplane designs, with On Folded Wings serving as a noted collection of his work. He is also a reptile enthusiast (""herper"") who keeps Redfoot tortoises.
