Overview

A whimsical picture book that follows strict Miss Prim as she learns how nature's wild ways can heal both her yard and her heart--and teaches children how to watch the wild grow in their backyards. Miss Prim had been called all kinds of things—precise, punctual, and practical. Sometimes even stern, strict, and scary. But never welcoming or whimsical, and certainly not wild. Miss Prim believed in no-nonsense. But that’s all about to change when her prim and proper yard decides to go wild while she’s away. Aghast at the grass, fuming at the flowers, and batting at birds, her strained efforts wain as the wild wonders work their way into her hard heart, revealing nature's power to heal and restore. With alliterations that roll off the tongue, whimsical illustrations, and timeless messages, Miss Prim Goes Wild is perfect for under a shady tree. Miss Prim’s change flows into her journal in the back of the book, where she studiously takes notes about the wild ways of nature that she’s come to love, and teaches children how to watch the wild grow in their own back yards.

Reviews

“Miss Prim Goes Wild gently reminds us that sometimes getting set in our old ways keeps us from the joy of new discoveries and connections. I’ll be adding this one to my Gramma library!”—Lisa Tawn Bergren, bestselling author of the God Gave Us series “With lyrical language and stunning illustrations, Miss Prim Goes Wild follows the metamorphosis of Miss Prim from nature despiser to nature lover, showcasing how her heart opens to the beauty around her. This book reminds us that life’s most beautiful wonders sometimes lie just outside our front door. Perfect for budding nature enthusiasts or parents hoping to instill a love for the great outdoors in their children.”—Whitney Newby, founder of Brighter Day Press and author of Lift Your Eyes “Miss Prim Goes Wild is a delightful, poignant tale, charmingly illustrated. Miss Prim’s move from negativity and a critical attitude to grateful appreciation of life gives so much scope for pondering our own view of the world. The resources and lessons in the back of the book alone make this a truly worthy book to read. I want this for my own grandchildren!”—Sally Clarkson, bestselling author and host of the podcast At Home With Sally “Miss Prim Goes Wild is a joyful celebration of nature’s quiet lessons, where words and wildness work together to transform a heart. The evolving colors beautifully reflect Miss Prim’s changing world, mirroring Wordsworth’s call to ‘let Nature be your teacher.’ Engaging, eloquent, and enriched with wonder—I just need a knee-full of grandchildren to share it with!”—Leah Boden, author of Modern Miss Mason and the Tales of Boldness and Faith series
