Born in Scotland and raised in Winchester, she read Law at Cambridge before becoming a writer. She has written five successful novels, including Times Top 10 debut Serve Cool, Water Wings and Swell. Lauren's film writing work includes the documentary Waveriders, which won Best Feature Documentary at the 2009 Irish Film & TV Awards. A dedicated surfer, Lauren loves riding the cool waves of Northumberland, where she lives with her husband and five-year-old son. She is a Trustee of the environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage. Nico Williams began her career working for a leading UK fashion retailer, later becoming an illustrator as a means to align her ever-growing social consciousness. She is based in South London.
