In Search of Joy: my Spiritual Journey

Overview

Carol's story is GOD's His-story of her life. GOD included many things in her life she never would have chosen, such as a divorce. Carol is bipolar, but for ten years she was misdiagnosed because she would not talk. She kept thoughts trapped in her mind that never left her mouth. She tried suicide several times. She didn't get better until she started talking and writing about her problems. Her main problem is trust issues. She didn't trust GOD, she didn't trust people, and there was not a lot in her that she could trust. Thoughts disentangled when she wrote them down and mixed them with prayer and Bible study. She didn't have to explain her problems to the Holy Spirit because He understood her from beginning to end. But it took doctors, counselors, family, and GOD to teach her GOD can be trusted. Carol is a Christian and Christ defines her. She is a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cooked for a living, worked in green houses, life guarded, worked at the Basketcase, a convenience store, and a frozen food locker. She moved around a lot. She divorced. She helps teach the three, four, and five-year-old children in Sunday School. She helps with the youth Sundays and Wednesday nights. She sings in the choir, and helps with Inreach at church. Carol likes to make bows and flower arrangements and landscape her flowerbeds. She wrote Behind Closed Doors, a Journey through Manic Depression. Those who proofread it wanted it in chronological order. She tried to do that with this book. Friends and family pray for her; without them this book wouldn't have been possible; it wouldn't have been the same book.
