How Does it Matter?

Overview

In the preface to her fifth collection of poems, author Lopamudra Banerjee says: ""there are still voices in my head that I gave shape to, sometimes inspired by paintings and my travels and the nectar and poison of everyday truths, sometimes as my moments of cognizance. With the passage of time, I hope my poems have gained some flesh as I have soaked myself in the earth, fire, water, wind of my life, embedded in the rhythm of the universe. And yes, it does matter to me somehow, that I myself, as a poet, am in deep solidarity with my fellow writers and poets whenever a greater cause, a universal truth, an inexplicable bond with the universe propels us to give birth to poetry."" The poet also describes the collection as ""a world of my fractured stories, my dismantled island of longings as you unfurl the pages, neatly dressed in three distinct sections."" The poems and prose poems, previously published in various journals, anthologies and voices are described in the poet's words as ""voices in my head have grown manifold, asking me time and again: ""How Does It Matter?"" In the collection, they have formed parts of the topography of her mindscape, as myriad artistic truths have emerged, with a cathartic effect.

Reviews

""Like a sponge, I love to soak in the subtle nuances of her poetry, which makes you ache with her; the images stay with you long after you have finished reading her subtle, philosophically profound, and sensuous poetry. With one twirl of her pen, she makes the readers introspect, meditate, and seethe at the rampant injustice of misogyny, patriarchy, and gender discrimination."" Dr. Santosh Bakaya, Award-winning Poet, Essayist, Novelist, TEDX Speaker Winner of Reuel International Award [Poetry, 2014], Setu Award [2018], Eunice D'Souza Award [2023], [WE Literary Community]
