In 1982 he began his medical studies at the Universidad de la Republica in Montevideo where he graduated in 1989. In 1990 he began his Residency programme in Urology, based at the Graduate School of the same University where he was awarded a Diploma of Specialist in Urology in 1995. In 2006 he became Fellow of the European Board of Urology. His professional development includes: Fellowship of the Confederacion Americana de Urologia on Female Urology at UCLA Medical Center (Los Angeles, US. 1997).
