Author Information

Mr. Jorge Clavijo, FEBU. Was born in Uruguay in 1962. In 1982 he began his medical studies at the Universidad de la Republica in Montevideo where he graduated in 1989. In 1990 he began his Residency programme in Urology, based at the Graduate School of the same University where he was awarded a Diploma of Specialist in Urology in 1995. In 2006 he became Fellow of the European Board of Urology. His professional development includes: Fellowship of the Confederacion Americana de Urologia on Female Urology at UCLA Medical Center (Los Angeles, US. 1997). Laparoscopy, laser and Endourology at Klinikum Heilbronn, Univ. Heidelberg (Germany. 1999). Treatment with TVT, Akademiska Sjukhuset, Uppsala University (Sweden. 1999.). Laparoscopic Urologic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Univ. Nacional del Nordeste (Argentina. 2002). Urologic Laparoscopy, European Surgical Institute, Hamburg (Germany. 2004). He developed and implemented minimally invasive treatments for stress urinary incontinence and urge incontinence; photodynamic diagnosis of bladder cancer; urologic laparoscopy; cryotherapy for urological tumours and safety in urological surgery. He is currently a Consultant Urological Surgeon and member of the Medical Advisory Committee at St. Hugh's Hospital in Lincolnshire, UK. He is also Associate Professor of Urology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universidad de la Republica in Montevideo, Uruguay.
