Desde 1989 reside en Nueva York, donde se doctoró en Literatura Latinoamericana por la Universidad de Columbia. Fundadora del colectivo artístico Kloaka (1982-1984), es autora del ensayo Soberanía y transgresión: César Moro (Lima, 2008). También ha co-editado los tomos Nadie sabe mis cosas.
