Overview

"It was at dessert time when I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew older. Still today, I do remember my answer, """"An engineer, because with my Meccano set, I can build so many things."""" In Go for It, Dominick Dehette recalls the heady days of the 1980s and early 1990s, when his work as an engineering consultant took him to southern Africa, China and all over Asia at especially interesting political times. Dehette's account combines an engaged eye for detail with the more-philosophical viewpoint of the seasoned traveller."

Author Information

Dominick was born just outside Paris, France. Educated at Technological College; after his military service, he left France for greener pastures. As a mechanical engineer, he first worked in Canada and then the US. Married and divorced, he headed overseas. That travelling inspiration grew with the scopes of responsibilities and projects. He established residence in Hong Kong in 1986 and was involved in several mega infrastructure and architectural projects. Fascinated by the Middle Kingdom and Asia, he traversed around with his wife, Sim Mei, whom he married in 1992 in Singapore. All along, he kept diaries over the past 40 years, records of his travels, projects and impressions. His second hobby is to restore old properties. His residence, in southwest France, is relaxing and appropriate for writing. Go for It might be his destiny...
