Author Information

Terry Bristol initially attended University of California at Berkeley in the mid-1960s to major in Astronomy. Finding the disciplinary narrowing too constraining he switched to the 'all sciences' field of Philosophy of Science. Paul Feyerabend was his Honors Thesis Advisor at Berkeley and encouraged him to attend the University of London for graduate work in History and Philosophy of Science, where he worked with Imre Lakatos and the 'Karl Popper Group'. In recent years he has been a leading-edge contributor to the emerging Paradigm Shift from the Scientific Worldview to the new broader, superseding, post-scientific Engineering Worldview. Bristol has held teaching positions at University of California at Santa Barbara, Linfield College, Portland State University, Marylhurst University and Portland Community College. Since 1987, as President of the Institute for Science, Engineering and Public Policy, affiliated with Portland State University, he has run the award-winning Linus Pauling Memorial Lecture Series.
