Freedom 34

Overview

At nineteen, Courtney Mini had failed to graduate high school, struggled with addiction, and spent the previous summer homeless. Then, in the wrong place at the wrong time, he was struck in a hit-and-run accident that ended his life. It was the best thing that could have happened to him. After paramedics brought him back, Courtney had to face an unavoidable truth: the life he'd been living wasn't leading anywhere he wanted to go. Dying gave him a new perspective, and with it, he rebuilt his life from the ground up. Fifteen years later, that shift has led to sobriety, a college education, financial independence, and retirement - all by thirty-four. Freedom 34 isn't a how-to guide or a get-rich-quick story. It's an exploration of how changing what we value can quietly transform our lives and our finances. For anyone questioning their relationship with drugs or alcohol, work, time, or money, this memoir offers a new perspective and a practical way forward.

Author Information

Courtney Mini is a Canadian writer living in Calgary, Alberta. His life changed at nineteen when he was struck by a car as a pedestrian - an accident that forced him to confront the direction of his life. In the years that followed, he rebuilt from the ground up, finishing high school, attending college, and beginning his career. By thirty-four, he had found sobriety and achieved financial independence and early retirement. Now thirty-eight, he volunteers with the Alberta Animal Rescue Foundation and spends much of his time hiking the Canadian Rockies with his rescue dog, Ellie.
