Foundations of International Strategic Management: Theorical manifesto for an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary scientific research field

Overview

This book is the result of a dissertation situated at the intersection of new international political economy and management science. I wrote this dissertation because, during an MBA seminar at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C.), a wonderful professor told me: ""You have to think big! If your project can't be scaled globally, then you're wasting your time! ..."" So, I was very surprised when, as I was about to begin my PhD program, I realized that there was no specific field of scientific research dedicated to international strategic management. Yet there are indeed courses, programs, and higher education institutions entirely dedicated to this specialty. So why doesn't strategic management appear in the scientific literature as a distinct field of research? Under these circumstances, how can a researcher or manager draw upon a theoretical framework specific to international strategic management? Since none existed, I had to develop one myself. And now it's done! Thanks to my thesis and thanks to this book, which is also a manifesto...Like the illustrious French theorist Henri Fayol, I, the humble French manager, unknown in my own country, have laid the foundations for a theoretical framework destined to flourish on a global scale... (much as my professor at Georgetown University had asked me to do! ...). It was my brotherhood duty to bring together what was scattered and to contribute in a universalist spirit to the building of the universal knowledge temple. * * * A humanist at heart and in spirit, Dany Mont holds a Ph.D program in political science (international relations) from the Center for Diplomatic and Strategic Studies at the Paris School of Advanced International and Political Studies. He wrote his thesis on international political economy, with a specialization in international management.
