For the Sake of Our Elders

Overview

For the Sake of Our Elders traces the lives of one German Jewish family through the centuries, told largely in their own words, relying upon recorded oral histories, archival photographs, and preserved documents - many handwritten in old German script that required expert translation. Painstakingly and meticulously woven into a contextual narrative, these materials paint an account that provides a backdrop for the historical events that led to the Holocaust, relating how the lives of the individuals in this particular family were upended and finally rebuilt in America after the Second World War.
