Richard Philip Grossenheider (1909-1975) illustrated A Field Guide to Mammals by William Henry Burt, a revised edition of which was published in 1964 in the Peterson Field Guide series. Grossenheider's water-colors of birds and mammals of the Southwest Pacific were featured in a 1946 exhibition at the National Audobon Society in New York.
