Table of ContentsReviews"""Blake's signature drawings with watercolor wash invigorate the proceedings as the trio cavorts across the pages."" --Publishers Weekly ""Clever images are at the heart of the text, and the quick rhythms move them seamlessly forward. Cartoon dialogue bubbles convey the humorous conversational asides of the friends. With her Pippi Longstockinglike pigtails flying at all angles, Daisy turns cartwheels, plays the banjo, and delights in the fact that she ""isn't quite like other folk."" Blake's trademark line drawings are full of movement and color and capture Daisy's free-spirited nature. This story of a fun and eccentric friend is sure to please children."" --School Library Journal" Daisy Artichoke is a marvellously eccentric character, vividly brought to life by Blake's rhyming text and wonderfully exuberant drawings that almost tumble off the page. As the full-page pictures depict 'her pig that almost never woke, her bike that almost always broke, and the pond in which she liked to soak,' we can clearly see that 'she isn't quite like other folk.' Fantastic stuff indeed. (3-6 yrs) (Kirkus UK) The first children's laureate has given us an immortal heroine. -- Junior Author InformationQuentin Blake has been drawing ever since he can remember.
