Overview

Gryphons, giant lizards, war, and tasty fish! Zeph is a gryphon who wants nothing more than to spend his days happily hunting parrots in the untamed forests with the rest of his pride, but after a wild chase gets out of hand, he stumbles upon a blood-soaked notebook full of secrets. The sort of secrets his brethren in the eyrie above would kill to keep hidden. The opinicus Kia, an evolved relative of a gryphon, wants nothing more than to hide in her sky-city and study ancient tomes. But when her scholarly friend goes missing, she's sent to the gryphon lands to investigate. She doesn't think things can get any worse than having to team up with a gryphon named Zeph, but what they uncover will put both their worlds in grave danger. Can gryphons and opinici work together to stop their worlds from burning down, or has the fuse already run out? Eyrie is a full-length creature fantasy novel set in a world full of gryphons, opinici, giant lizards, sea monsters, and conflict.

Reviews

Ground parrots, opinici, and gryphons, oh my! Eyrie transports you to a brand-new world of exotic yet relatable characters, and will leave you eager for the next installment. - Roz Gibson, author of the Griffin Ranger series. Vale's writing is dark, but never bleak; bright, but never glib; barbed, but never harsh. You will find just how blurry the line is between humans and animals. You will see yourself in these stories. There is madness here, and beauty, and terror. But there is, above all else, humanity, and a deep, abiding sense of compassion. - Trevor Dawson

Author Information

K. Vale Nagle is alarmingly hard to kill. Having written his entire life, after surviving a pulmonary embolism and multiple organ failure, he began to take his writing more seriously and worked to get a degree in creative writing while recover. During that time another embolism struck and failed to kill him, at which point the doctors discovered an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder and patched him back up. Having used up two of his nine lives, he began publishing short stories and novels. When the doctors said that lung surgery was a 95% certainty, he dyed his hair dark blue, which is when he discovered that he was so unwell that his hair wasn't growing. A year later, and a switch from dark blue to teal, and his hair has finally started growing again (albeit silver instead of its pre-embolism black) and he's writing like a fiend.
