Saunders, BA, MSc, PGCE, PhD, Chartered FCIPD, is Professor of Business Research Methods at the Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham, UK. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, the British Academy of Management and the First International Network on Trust. He currently holds visiting professorships at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (University of Pretoria, South Africa), Mälardalen University (Sweden) and the University of Worcester (UK). Philip Lewis, BA, PhD, MSc, Chartered MCIPD, PGDipM, Cert Ed, began his career in HR as a training adviser with the Distributive Industry Training Board. He then taught HRM and research methods at three UK universities. He studied part-time for degrees with the Open University and the University of Bath, from which he gained an MSc in industrial relations and a PhD for his research on performance pay in retail financial services.
