OverviewThe 2018 Doctor Who Diary commemorates the 55th anniversary of the series and features all The Doctor's companions over that time. The role of the companion has changed significantly since the series first aired in 1963. In the beginning the elderly Doctor travelled with his granddaughter, Susan, until he was joined by two unwilling teachers, Barbara and Ian. Ian played the brave male hero, protecting the scared, vulnerable Susan and Barbara when tricky situations arose. Over time the male hero role was abandoned and the female companion became the Doctor's mainstay, evolving into an increasingly brave, independent and adventurous character, able to stand up to challenges from various aliens and monsters, often without the help of the Doctor, and sometimes even being called on to save him from certain death. The diary also covers part of Series 10 where the 12th Doctor is on his way to regeneration. Double - page spread per week. Includes Australian and New Zealand public holidays. The 9th diary in this series and a collectible for fans.
