OverviewPoem is a struggling musician with commitment issues. He meets Mantriji, an astrologer from India, who makes him question whether he truly has freewill. When a scandalous time in New Orleans ends as predicted, Poem leaves the 'music biz' for the 'music of the spheres' and spends the next seven years coming to understand the cosmic riddle that is karma. For anyone even a little interested in astrology or cosmology, this urban tale of a musician and a mystic coming together to discuss the metaphysics of India is funny, irreverent and wise. Diamonds on the Bottom of the Sea are the brilliant ones who go unseen. A divine comedy of scandal and scripture, east meets west, young meets old, the profane and the profound; it is what happens when you begin to find the answers. Mantriji is a Master Jyotishi and teacher of Indian philosophy. Born in India, he lived in Toronto nearly 40 years and counts among his students such luminaries as Dr. Robert Svoboda and Hart de Fouw. Jyotish is the ancient astrology of India. Steadily gaining popularity in the West, it provides a map to one's karma and life probabilities, good or bad. It is essentially a karmic weather report and can be amazingly accurate in the hands of a skilled practitioner.
