The author, JM Alvarez, is a Filipino Civil Engineer and a Catholic since birth. Like most Christians, he recently underwent a crisis of faith due to the onslaught of different Christian denominations challenging what most Catholics traditionally believe in. He became confused for a while and no longer knew what religion to believe in. Members of those other Christian denominations were very aggressive and sometimes went house to house to promote their own doctrines and beliefs. They meticulously studied the histories of Catholicism and other religions with painstaking research and analyzed the Bible almost word for word, concluding that Catholic doctrines are not in conformity with Bible teachings. To find out for himself, the author did his own research and also repeatedly read the whole Bible by heart. The happy result of this undertaking is the rediscovery of Catholicism and the book 'Debunking Misconceptions of Catholicism - A Layman's Defense'. He found out the real purpose of the Church founded by Jesus Christ and the true meaning of life. The author wants to share with all Christians this heart-lifting knowledge, especially to ordinary lay people.
