Overview

For those who truly love the game, there is no beginning player, or former player, there are only players. Daydreaming, A Baseball Story is for everyone who loves the game, be they younger players who are crossing the white lines for the first time, or those of us that know we will not cross them again as an active player, but in our minds we are still capable of making a play or getting a key hit. It is a story that begins and ends in an older player's head as he gets the opportunity to spend one more moment in the sun through the actions and dreams of two younger players. In watching their joy at being able to play such a perfect game there is the chance to once again feel the pop of a great pitch into your mitt, and the thrill of throwing that fastball by a great hitter. I hope as you read it, either to yourself or to someone special, you will find yourself as I did, being transported to a special diamond of your dreams.

Jack Magnus of Readers' Favorites said in his review: Daydreaming, a Baseball Story by R. W. Thompson was a magical interlude for me. Thompson's story and illustrations capture both the wonder and immediacy of baseball, and the magic to be found in daydreams and imagination. I loved reading this book and savored the tension and intensity of the players as they played their fantasy game, and then I marveled at the power I had found in a children's picture book. Yes, Daydreaming: A Baseball Story will enthrall the adult who's been charged with reading a story aloud as deeply, if not more so, as it does the young listener, and that's a very rare thing indeed. This stirring story, with its accompanying masterful illustrations, stands out above the usual children's fare and it is most highly recommended. The graphic artwork is really well-done. And yes, it did transport me as well. Jessica J. Five Stars-Amazon Review I thought this was a wonderful book. My two sons, one eight, the other six loved it and they have re-read it several times since the purchase. Any book that they will be drawn to like that has to be great!
