Overview

Animals hoping to make an easy profit on a price bubble find out what happens when supply catches up to demand. After Arlene the giant tortoise walks down the aisle wearing a crown of daisies, everyone wants some of the beautiful blooms for themselves. Florists sell out quickly, but Sly Seal has a daisy stash that allows him to drive up the price. Soon his customers start buying flowers from each other at even higher markups, hoping to sell them later for a profit. By the time word spreads that more daisies are on the way, this bubble is ready to burst.

Reviews

""Daisy Bubble: A Price Crash on Galapagos, is a story about animals who get caught up in a frenzy over daisies, sending the flowers' price soaring, then crashing. It was inspired by a high-profile event in early 2021 when a large number of people--including many young, inexperienced investors--tried to cash in on a 'short squeeze' of GameStop stock.""--AARP The Magazine

Author Information

Sheila Bair has had a long and distinguished career in finance, academia, and government. She is perhaps best known as the Chair of the FDIC during the 2008-2009 financial crisis, when she was twice named by Forbes Magazine as the second most powerful woman in the world. A lifelong advocate for strong financial regulation and consumer protections, she is the author of the New York Times bestseller Bull by the Horns, her memoir of the financial crisis, and is a frequent op-ed contributor and TV commentator, as well as author of several children's books on financial matters. Amy Zhing grew up in the city of Plymouth in Devon, England. She studied fine art at university but realized a career as an award-winning fine artist was far too serious for her. So she has decided to try and make it as an award-winning illustrator instead.
