Overview

Story of two friends who become part of a human cargo from India destined for South Africa. The journey turns into a nightmare as many die from lack of food, illness and ill treatment by the Captain and crew. They were all under the assumption that they were to be employed as agriculturists, but upon arrival, the survivors were sold as slaves. Many tragedies unfold as the two friends, together with the other slaves, suffer intolerable atrocities inflicted upon then that included even murder. The subsequent struggle by the Indians who chose to stay after they were freed and their sufferings under Apartheid. Gandhi's role or the lack of it in helping these so called lower class coolies.
