Author Information

The picture on the cover of Mrs. Christine Maxwell Davis was presented by HOPS at the 20th Anniversary celebration of Gospelrama which was held at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel in 2006. She was the honoree at this event where the Honorable Doctor Mayor James W. Holley III was the speaker and Dr. Patricia Saunders Nixon was the guest soloist. This picture also won third place in the Virginia Beach Photography Club contest in 2017. She is the founder of H.O.P.S. (Helping Others Progress Successfully), a profound organist and musician, a teacher, historian, poet, playwright, great great grandmother and matriarch of her family. Mrs. Davis was once a member of the Detroit Musician's Association (DMA), the Portsmouth Library, the Civic Choral Society and is still one of the original and active members of the African American Historical Society of Portsmouth. In this book Mrs. Davis takes you on her life's journey of how God guided, used her to make history and chose her to do His Will. You will learn about past experiences and unbelievable stories and present events that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Priscilla Jackson is a native New Yorker who now resides with her husband in Portsmouth, Virginia. She is a former teacher in the New York City Public school system and real estate agent/investor. She is a graduate of Hampton Institute which is now Hampton University. She is an ambassador for Christ and enjoys teaching and sharing the Word of God. She met Mrs. Christine Davis about seven years ago while assisting her with the Emancipation Unity Celebration where they became friends. It has been a pleasure helping Mrs. Davis to write this book. Priscilla is in the process of writing her own book for those dealing with the sting of divorce.
