Overview

This work is based upon papers presented at the October 1990 Princess Lilian Foundation symposium, the latest in the Argenteuil Symposia Series. These two-day meetings are focused upon fast-evolving topics and are attended by research scientists and medical specialists whose goal is to bridge the gap between basic science and clinical practice through in-depth discussion. Cellular and Molecular Biology of Atherosclerosis provides an extensive review of coronary morphopathologic findings in patients who died of coronary heart disease. Additionally, topics range from endothelial injury, the possible role of oxidized and modified lipoproteins in atherogenesis, postprandial lipemia, and hypertrigly-ceridemia, to the etiology of hypertension in a strain of genetically hypertensive rats. The book concludes with a current and future perspective on clinical trials with lipid-lowering agents.
