He holds degrees in History and French and has worked as a secondary-school teacher of French and history. Pike is the author of Defying Vichy: Resistance in the Heart of South West France and Silent Village: The Life and Death of Oradour, and his work has been translated into French. He has lectured and spoken at history festivals and academic events in the UK and France and is engaged in doctoral research into the French Resistance at Cardiff University.
