Overview

"Amanda Price is teased at school and dubbed ""Bug Girl,"" because she loves bugs. Even her former best friend Emily thinks she's weird. But teasing is the least of her problems. When giant monsters invade Oyster Cove, taking Amanda and Emily's mothers captive, Amanda develops superhero powers characteristic of her favorite insects! Emily starts exhibiting powers as well, and they discover that their moms are the famous superheroes Dragonfly and Megawoman! In order to save their town and their moms from an evil scientist, Amanda and Emily have to put aside their differences. Filled with illustrations and sidebars featuring real bug facts, this funny and action-packed superhero story will appeal to both boys and girls in the middle-grade audience."

Author Information

Benjamin Harper was born and raised in Florida where he spent his time obsessing over insects, dinosaurs, space travel, and kaiju attacks. He went to Warren Wilson College in North Carolina and has been working in children's publishing ever since, as both an editor and author. Currently, he lives in Los Angeles, California. Sarah Hines Stephens has been a children's book reader, editor, seller, buyer, doctor, author, copyeditor, ghostwriter, and speaker for many years-and she is still most of those things. She makes her home in Oakland, California, where she lives with her husband, two kids, and two dogs. When she is not doing book-related things, Sarah enjoys cooking and eating and gardening and travelling.
