OverviewUrban landscapes and nocturnal city visions are the central motifs of the images of Birgit Jensen. However, the viewer only becomes aware of this when he or she stands far enough back from the works. The artist works with points and rasters. Light produces, not concrete architecture, but instead structures on large-format canvases that are perceived by the eye as urban landscapes. These high-density architectural spaces, illuminated streets, multi-storey buildings and advertising billboards achieve three-dimensionality, despite the high level of abstraction in the works.Urbanity is the expression that Birgit Jensen uses; it is her point of departure for a discourse on the mechanisms of perception.
