Bill W. Conscious Contact: The Award-Winning Film on Paper

Overview

A RARE WINDOW INTO THE INNER LIFE OF BILL WILSON - A.A. COFOUNDER & HEALER OF MILLIONS Bill W. Conscious Contact - The Award-Winning Film On Paper presents a deeply moving portrait of William Griffith Wilson (1895-1971) not as a public institution, but as a man who never stopped seeking. Drawing from the Stepping Stones Archive(R)-The Historic Home of Bill and Lois Wilson(R) in Westchester County, New York - this companion volume to the award-winning documentary brings together rare archival photographs, Bill's own letters, and the full film transcript. Featuring a never-before-told story: in December 1969, Bill Wilson - founder of Alcoholics Anonymous - was taught Transcendental Meditation by Lincoln Norton. Afterward, he declared: ""I never understood the 11th Step until I started TM."" This discovery, confirmed through Lois Wilson's personal guest book, reveals a man still growing spiritually in the final year of his life. Winner of 8+ international film festival awards including Best Documentary at the San Diego Movie Awards, Royal Starr Film Festival, Touchstone Independent Film Festival, and Best Documentary Feature at Documentaries Without Borders. Ideal for: AA members, Al-Anon families, recovery communities, historians of spirituality, and anyone inspired by one of the 20th century's great healers.

Author Information

Jay Stinnett is an independent scholar, biographer, and author who has spent the past 30 years studying the application of spiritual principles to the most baffling of human maladies, alcoholism.Bill W. Conscious Contact is the culmination of three decades of writing and presenting on A.A. history and offers groundbreaking new perspectives on Bill Wilson's spiritual evolution outside of A.A. Stinnett is an expert on the spiritual antecedents of the Twelve Step Movement and has lectured internationally on the Oxford Group, Bill Wilson and Carl Jung, on Dr. Bob and Bill Wilson's mystical practices, and on his pioneering research into Wilson's role in psycho-chemotherapy.Jay is an enthusiastic supporter of the Stepping Stones Foundation(R)-The Historic Home of Bill and Lois Wilson(R) in Katonah, N.Y. - and was instrumental in the creation of its digital archive. He is also the author of Loving Sober: A Field Guide to Spiritual Intimacy and a longtime member of Initiatives of Change. A meditation enthusiast living in the ""4th Dimension"" in Sedona, Arizona, Jay created the meditation website 3MinutesOfSilence.org with Lee Scantlin in 2005. William Schaberg is a scholar and rare book dealer based in Fairfield, Connecticut. His interest in the history of ideas led him to amass a large collection of first edition philosophy texts and inspired his first scholarly work, The Nietzsche Canon: A Publication History and Bibliography (University of Chicago Press, 1995). Schaberg has delivered lectures on Nietzsche, William James, and other philosophers with his mentor King Dykeman at his alma mater Fairfield University. He also served in the United States Air Force, and ran a family printing business for over thirty years before retiring to commit more energy to his bookselling business, Athena Rare Books (www.athenararebooks.com). Schaberg's scholarly investigation into the authorship of Alcoholics Anonymous was an eleven-year project that, like his Nietzsche book, began with bibliographical confusion over the text's prepublication history and culminated in an unprecedented chronology of the ""Big Book"" origin. The director, Kevin Hanlon is known for the films, T11 Incomplete (2020), Bill W.: The Creative Force Behind Alcoholics Anonymous (2016) and Bill W. (2012).
