Overview

Between the Here and There is a collection of works I've written over the years from the house I grew up in to my home today. I don't like to consider it poetry because in my opinion, it lacks a certain artistic flare that poetry is prone to. This is a collection of verse that happens to rhyme, written like I'd speak, if I spoke in rhyming verse. To me, it offers a certain cadence to the words, which in many cases, allows me to remember certain lines years after they were written. Most of them tell a story or have a theme and end when they should. Every piece in here I can tell you about the people who inspired the piece, or for whom they were written. They tend to be ordinary people who have decorated an ordinary life making it extraordinary. Most of these people I have known for most of my life and remain close with today. As I look back on our shared experiences over the years, I'm glad I took time to write some of the emotions down. With any luck, some of these will bring back memories of your own. The most recent piece here was written at home earlier this year, shortly after my mother asked if I still wrote... as it was, this book was mostly finished when she asked! I do still write, but with youth now behind me, I write from a different perspective. The road between there and here are within.
