Overview

Bacon, the Very Confused Basset Hound, is a warm-hearted story about a boy and his dog, Bacon. The boy and Bacon go to a park to play to engage in fun activities. Bacon notices the other dogs in the park look very different than he does and begins to admire and compare himself to the others as they are taller, prettier, fancier, and faster than he is. Bacon is confused about why he looks so different and how anyone could love him the way he is and questions his own self-worth. The boy explains to Bacon that everyone looks different, that is what makes one unique and special. The boy assures Bacon that he is loved for who he is and not for how he looks or what he can do. Bacon now understands and feels the boy's deep love for him just as he is. They head home after stopping at the doggie bakery for a special treat and go to bed dreaming about what adventures they will engage in tomorrow. In this delightful story about a boy and his dog, the reader will not only learn an important life lesson but will enjoy the artful illustrations showing a variety of other dog breeds and factual characteristics of the ones illustrated. The story will demonstrate that love comes in many different forms and that the love between a boy and his dog is a very special kind of love.
