Overview

"Do you have COPD patients that dread these tests? Do you get frustrated when your patients can't seem to follow instructions? Do you give spirometry tests in a physician's office and sometimes wonder what makes a good test? How do I get someone with restrictive lung disease to blow out longer? My patients have trouble panting in the body box. Do you have any helpful tips? I've been told, ""Please don't shout - I'm not deaf!"" What should I do? How often should I calibrate? While Rosemary (R.K.) McWilliams, BAS, RRT, CPFT, worked for a pulmonologist, she saw a need for a practical, self-help manual for health care workers who administer pulmonary function tests in hospitals and clinics, and for the lay person who does simple spirometry in the physician's office, or annual employee physicals. Often, pulmonary function coaches work alone, with little resources, and when those clients come in that have difficulty performing a spirometry test, (and they will), you need this self-help manual in your hand. Airtight PFTs is loaded with coaching tips and scripts that R.K. learned from real life experiences and is passing on to you to reduce frustration, make your job easier and clients happier. Humorous and light, yet educational and helpful, Airtight PFTs takes a fresh new look at pulmonary function testing. You will discover simplified coaching scripts to obtain quality PFTs, the five universal pulmonary function laws, techniques for coaching various people groups, with coaching tips and techniques that really work. Airtight Pulmonary Function Tests contains information not usually found in regular textbooks, but can be used to enhance your knowledge of pulmonary function testing. Whether you have a panicking client in the body box or only do annual employee spirometries, there is something for everyone. Take a look at this review submitted by an educator in California (used by permission): 03-09-2014 ""I purchased your PFT book (Airtight Pulmonary Function Tests) on my Kindle and it had done wonders for my PFT coaching. I have a great time in my tests and get good results from my patients. I am the educator and was hoping your book was available in paper format that I could use for teaching and competencies. The only thing I can find is the e-version. Is there another format available for hospital education? Thanks!"" Jennifer R.K.s reply: Thanks Jennifer, glad Airtight Pulmonary Function Tests is helping you get good results from your patients! It is now available in paper format, along with a Workbook and can be found on Amazon and my website. Happy PF testing! RK McWilliams, BAS, RRT, CPFT"
